Plastic Recycling

Since 1 January 2015, businesses have been required to separate recyclable material (paper, plastic, metal and glass), from other materials under UK waste regulations.

This means that all recyclable materials should be separated from general waste, though the recyclable materials themselves do not have to be collected into separate streams. The European Commission says that:

“Considering that the aim of separate collection is high quality recycling, the introduction of a separate collection system is not necessary if the aim of high quality recycling can be achieved just as well with a form of co-mingled collection.”

By diverting plastics and other recyclable materials from landfills, businesses can save thousands of pounds a year by evading the Landfill Tax on those items.

Commercial Waste can help you with your plastic recycling. Not only can we provide you with the necessary bins, but we can arrange the collection and recycling of all your recyclable materials.
